Jacket pajama shirt

Since my daughter started to walk, its size increases only up. This means that clothing that fits well at the waist and on the body, a few inches short. I found some shirts that were almost new, but short at least 5 cm Because the daughter needed a jacket for spring, I decided to try and remake the fleece shirt jacket. What do you think? It was super simple and beautiful. Here's how I did it.

Materials:

1. Pajamas or a shirt that fits well in width, but may be too short or too long
2. Suitable fabric for the cuffs and bottom of jacket

Construction:

1.

Close the zipper to the top. (This is very important, if you leave the zipper open, You will not be able to close it completely after you cut. Don't ask me how I know. Just keep that thing shut. OK?) To find the length that you think will fit for jackets. Cut the shirt horizontally 2.5 cm above the desired length. I decided to cut it right at the bottom to obtain the maximum possible length. Ready jacket comes to my daughter's thigh, making it longer than usual, but I like it this length. If you want a specific length jackets - make sure you cut accordingly.

2.

Usually if the shirt is shorter in length, probably shorter in the sleeves, too. I will show you how to increase the sleeve length a bit.

3. Measurements

Now measure the circumference of the hem, let's call the measure L1. Also measure the circumference of the cuff. Let's call it L2. Now cut a 7.5 cm wide strip of length L1+(2хЛ2) + 12.5 cm We will use it to have enough for the hem and cuffs of the jacket.

4. Make a tape for eyelash hem and cuffs

Fold the strip in half lengthwise and iron.

Now fold one edge 0.6 cm and iron, it can take several minutes. You can make folds by hand before Ironing to make it easier to iron.

Now fold the other raw edge a little more. Folding it so it is guaranteed that when we sew the strip seam will be inside. I'll explain more when we get to sewing.

The finished tape with an offset.

5. Hem detailing

Align the raw edges (right sides together). Make sure you leave a 2.5 cm bias tape at the beginning. Sew along the hem. Try to keep the seam was as shown in figure above.

When you get close to the starting point (at around 7 cm), measure tape. You will need to finish it and cut into 1.5 cm longer.

Now connect the ends of the tape and sew with right sides together. It guarantees a very clean finish.

Now sewed up the remaining seams along the hem.

Now fold the tape inside.

Make sure that the internal part of the tape slightly above the outer part. Now sew a seam as close as possible to the top of the outer portion of the tape.

Hem ready.

6. Add cuffs on the sleeves.

Cuffs are made exactly the same as the ribbon on the hem. The only thing I need to mention that you could make the cuffs a different length than the hem. So you need to adjust the width of the bands, respectively.

So we are easily altered pajama shirt fleece jacket. Sew easy, sew fun!

Do one, do two, make a lot!
