Okay, now you all know I prefer boys. However, today I made this little dress for one of my nieces. I call it rock-n-roll baby dress. Here are the details....
I had this shirt that I really liked, but the neckline was stretched in a strange way. I decided to remake it in a little baby dress. Here, as it were.
1) Cut skirt. I wanted were a-line. I took the measurement of her waist to the width at the top, and then just made the bevels a bit.
2) the Remaining fabric into strips. Cut so the strips were curved. The steeper the curve, the more wavy ruffles will be. You will see.
3) Sew the skirt. You already have your hem from the former t-shirt. I sewed around the edges first and then I sewed on the elastic waistband that was the same length as the upper part of the skirt. (I used the waistband 1 cm) of Knitted fabric a little harder to handle, because it continues to stretch when sewing, but you can compress it a little as you go.
4) Sew strips. Take the inner part of your curved stripes and sew them down to the skirt in a straight line. Make waves back and forth as shown below. After they are sewn, you can trim strips on top and bottom, so they are rounded. I used white thread because I liked the way the lines look out waves of the fabric.
I made the rear part of the skirt is just the same. Just solid blue.
When you are done you get the ruffles without gathering the fabric.
Isn't it adorable?
Thanks for stopping by.
