While I was busy sewing gifts and wrote textbooks my Munchkin growing like a weed. When I found the time to perform your wardrobe, I found that every pair of pants a few inches short of steel. Wow! When did this happen? Probably because she still fit into these pants at the waist. Its the same size it was a year ago. Anyway, I've revised my pattern for pants sewing room for growth (I still can't believe that this template would be suitable for my grown children), and went to town. Cutting, sewing, Ironing...and a few days later, her inventory is filled with new pants.
I'll start with patterns for basic pants, you've probably seen it a million times for all the blogs, I decided to preserve it here for completeness. Along the way, I will give you some decorating ideas (and how to make them). I hope you find this useful and enjoyable.
So let's start with the basic pants for a little girl. You can find a lot of patterns for these pants all over the blogosphere. This work for my baby, but you may want to modify the template a little to fit your child's length and waist circumference. Or you can take any basic pattern pants and start. Start with a basic pattern and will show you how to create a bunch of variations of it.
Materials: Basic pants for 2 year old toddler
0.9 m fabric - for pants use fabrics that are slightly heavy such as baby corduroy, denim.
Elastic - I used 43 cm long and 2 cm wide elastic band. But the best way to assess size is to place it around the waist of your child and to see that the length of the bands most convenient for him/her.
Optional - narrow ribbon for decoration 1.35 M.
Basic sewing supplies - scissors, thread of the corresponding color pen for marking.
Tailoring:
1.
Put the cloth in a straight line, then fold it in half lengthwise, then fold it one more time.
2.
Now place your pattern on the fold so that the straight line coincides with the fold.
3.
Cut around the template and cut out.
Simple advice: try to put your template about a couple of inches above the raw edge of the fabric. This will give you some margin, just in case.
4.
Now sew patterns pants both legs separately. Right sides to each other.
5.
Now remove one of the legs.
6.
Insert one leg inside the other, so that at inseam to align.
7.
Sew along the edges of the crotch area, sew in the lowest part a couple of times, as it is the most intense site of pants and You don't want to rip the sutures.
8. Turn the pants inside out.
9. Now, let's make the belt.
10.
Fold the waistband 1 cm inwards and sew.
11.
Fold it again approximately 2.5 cm in this time. Sew, but make sure you leave about an inch to reposition the gum.
12.
With the help of safety pins to insert elastic inside the hole.
13.
When the elastic will come out, stitch both ends of elastic. I use the stitch in figure 1.14 as recommended by the manual of my machine. If you don't have this stitch, use a different zigzag. Just make sure you sew tight, at least 3 - 4 times to walk.
14. Sew the hole on the belt.
At this point, I highly recommend trying the pants on the child, to get an idea of fit. Elastic waist needs to be tight tight, but comfortable. Measure the length where you want the pants over and tuck the remaining length of the pants inside out. That will give us the desired length to hem pants.
15. The length you just said, trying on pants.
16.
Ideally you should fold the first 1 cm and then fold again about two inches, but this is just a guideline.
Basic pants made. If you have a template and dimensions, you can easily make any pants for half an hour.
The idea of embellishment
For these pants I came up with this decoration is only at the end. So you can skip it if you want.
The idea is very simple, take narrow ribbon and sew it in intersecting lines near the bottom of the pants.
Simply cut two identical pieces of tape (~63 cm ) and sew around the feet of the intersecting lines.
Patterns are here (page 1) and here (page 2).
