Chocolate skirt

I was looking for something useful in my stash when I found this piece very nice corduroy. I remembered that I once wanted to make a beautiful skirt for the baby and of course I forgot about it. So instead of trying to put it in there and forget about it again, I put aside all things aside and set to work with enthusiasm. The result is a Chocolate skirt. It was a super quick job. When I was making this skirt, my guest was a friend. She was surprised how quickly I sewed a skirt. Here is the process:

Materials:

Corduroy or other heavy fabric
Gum 2-3 cm wide for waist: 32 cm
Scraps of fabric in contrasting colors: 2-3 PCs

Measurements:

Length: desired length + 6 cm: Du
Width: Measure your little one at the widest part (belly or buttocks). Add 12.5 cm and divide by 2: Shiu

Tailoring:

1.

Cut into rectangles with a length and a width Du Shiu. If your fabric still has the edge, use it to reduce your work.

2.

Sew two seams along both sides of the Du. Leave about 8 - 10 cm unsewn.

The look of the front pleats

To make the front pleat sew about 12 - 18 cm in length at a distance of about 4 cm from the seam in the upper right side. The line should be parallel to the right side (actually the front center seam).

3.

Now sew a seam to make a rectangle.

Since it is difficult to see the seams in the original picture, I modified it and black lines in the picture above - is a rectangle I'm talking about.

You have to make sure that the original seam is still right in the center of the folds.

Here's how box pleats would look like on the outside.

4. Skirt hem

Bend and finish the unsewn seams.

5.

To prepare a place under the elastic, folded the fabric in the upper part about 6 mm, and sew, then fold about 3 to 4 cm and sew. Write a 3 - 5 cm openings in the seams on the sides of the skirt, because we make this skirt with a flat front part.

6.

Insert the elastic into one split and remove it in another. Stretch the elastic a bit to gather fabric at the back of the skirt. I highly recommend that you secure the rubber band safety pins and try on the baby to make sure that the skirt fits comfortably.

7.

Sew the elastic to the skirt at both ends. I use stitch 1-14, as shown above, but if your machine does not have this seam, then sew another zigzag. Go through each side 3 to 4 times for extra strength.

8.

For applique, I cut out flowers from another contrasting fabric and sewed them without any processing regular stitch. But I think a zigzag stitch would be better and safer to keep the application.
