Since I made the peasant dress, I played around with different design elements. This is a cute dress made from different fabrics (Suzette, picnic pals, Safari sweet) and add some funny details, like ruffles, belt, applique, etc. easy to do.
Materials:
• Coordination of fabrics of different prints
I have chosen the following fabrics:
• Suzette on the bodice and a ruffle at the hem - half meter
• Picnic pals on the sleeves and waistband - half meter
• Safari sweet for the skirt - half of meter
• Orange felt fabric
Estimated time: 2 hours
skill Level: Beginner
Pattern:
• Print3 page PDF pattern for the dress of Pumpkin pie on 8.5 x 11 inch paper with margins equal to zero.
Here will look like the pattern when you collect the pages together.
Sewing allowances: 1 cm, unless otherwise specified
Construction:
Tailoring of the bodice
This dress is created based on the peasant dress, the pattern which we have published previously. So, I'm skipping the details of how to assemble the bodice and trim on the neckline and sleeves. Sew it exactly the same as a Peasant dress, except that here I'm not corrugated sleeves. You can crimp the sleeves or leave them as is, depending on your preference.
Cut out the pattern. Sew the sleeves and bodice together, as in peasant dress.
Sew skirt
Cut a piece of fabric 40 cm (height) x 1 meter (circumference). Stitch 40 cm sides together (right sides together).
Sew two seams one along the 1 m region. Pull the thread to gather the fabric. To collect until it becomes equal to the bodice. Sew the skirt to the bodice.
Cut two strips of 1 m in length and 7.5 cm in width. Sew short ends together to form a large circle.
Fold both raw edges 0.6 cm to the wrong side twice.
To set the machine tension high and the stitch length to maximum and set the speed to maximum. Sew a seam about 1 cm below the rim. It will be boriti fabric automatically. Once you are done, flatten the ruffles by hand and customize them under the hem of the dress.
Fold the hem of the dress to 0.6 cm on itself twice. To sew the hem band with ruffles.
The design of the belt:
Cut two strips with a length of 1 m. One 6 cm wide, the other 10 cm wide.
Stitch the long sides to each other.
Now sew a seam on one of the short ends. Cut the angles.
Here's how the belt will look after the inversion out.
Iron. Tuck the raw ends inside. Iron again. Sew a seam to close the end.
Here the finished belt.
Sew the waistband with one edge of the seam connecting the bodice and skirt.
Cut out several pumpkins of different sizes from felt. Use black thread for the embroidery stitches on the pumpkin for decoration.
Now you can manually attach the pumpkins on the dress or the sewing machine. I've already washed the dress a couple of times and of an application holding up just fine.
Just add baby!
