Dress with knitted loops

A couple of weeks ago I shared the lesson of sewing striped dress. The dress I made was so comfortable that my daughter was wearing it very often. So I used a template to make another version of the same pattern. This version was inspired by a t-shirt with loops that I saw a couple of years ago. I loved how romantic and stylish design of this item. In particular, in the dress make knitted loops by eliminating the belt (which holds already bad) and even to some degree fit. I've been wanting to try this in one of my projects and finally did. I love how this dress turned out. Here's how I did it:

Level: Confident beginner

Time: 2 hours

Pattern:

Download pattern knitted dress pattern for 3 years size here. Print on 8x11.5 inches of paper.

Print out 2 copies of each page and pages 1 and 2 together.

Seam allowance: 1 cm, unless otherwise specified

Material: half a meter of the main fabric, half a meter of coordinating fabric

Sewing:

Contact striped dress for initial construction. Cut the pieces according to the diagram and connect the front and back at shoulders. Here I will highlight just where is this dress made in different ways. Instead of stitching the entire length along the sides, just sew about 5 cm below the armhole joining the front and back.

Binding neck:

This dress is the easiest way to sew double stripe knit fabric on neckline and armholes, but I added a little bevel to make the collar is interesting. Here's how I did it:

Measure the length of the armhole/neckline, which needs to be processed. Cut a strip about 3/4 of this length x 10 cm wide. Fold it across the width and sew diagonally near both ends, as shown in the figure above. Trim diagonally along the seam.

Fasten with pins and needles striped fabric.

Now attach the overlapping portion to the center of the neckline and then pin. Because the knit is smaller than the neckline, there will be some backlash. This is normal and necessary to get a good shape of the neckline/armhole.

Now sew a seam along the neckline. Gently pull the Jersey to stretch it so that it becomes equal to the neckline. Once you are done, you will have a small "V-shaped" cutout or the recess.

Repeat the same process for the arm openings to secure the overlapping ends at the top and sew the same way as neckline.

Do loop back

Cut strips of 30 cm x 75 cm Fold in half and sew along the edge to 75 cm (right sides together). To turn, to get a wide receiver.

Cut the tube into two parts.

I forgot to take a picture of the next steps, but they are very simple really. Attach knit the sides back so that they were approximately 5 cm below the armhole.

I left the hem unfinished, but you can finish if you like.

Dress front.

Dress the back.
