Easy knit dress with a pocket full of butterflies

I've been wanting to try the technique of the stencil through the paper. Obsession kid's butterfly gave me a great opportunity to do so. I'm in love with this dress, it is somewhat different from what I ultimately did, but this dress was just as I thought. You have a little girl who wants a pocket full of butterflies? Well then read on!

Skill level: medium

Time: 3 hours

supplies:

Dress for the basics:

- Knitted fabric dark grey, 70 cm or 1 XXL t-shirt

For strap and pocket:

yellow knit, 38 cm

Butterfly:

yellow paint for fabric
Or yellow acrylic paint + fabric paint
Paper

Pattern:

• Download a four-page knit dress pattern (Size 3 year). Print it on A4 (8.5 x 11 inches) paper with margins at 0.

Size 5 years:

• Download a four-page knit dress pattern here (Size 5 l). Print it on A4 (8.5 x 11 inches) paper with margins at 0.

The seam allowance:

1 cm, unless otherwise indicated.

Tailoring:

Cut out the pattern pieces. Please note that the front and rear parts are the same in this style dresses.

Sew a seam along the neck leaving the wire on both ends. Slightly pull the thread to gather the neckline approximately 8 cm

slip on cut outs and straps:

• Cut out yellow fabric strip 6.5 cm X 1 m.
• Fold the strip in half lengthwise and iron.

Align raw edges of strip with raw edge of the Assembly neckline (wrong side) and sew seam.

Fold the strip to the other side and sew a seam so close to the edge as possible. Go slow and easy here to get a nice uniform seam, because it will be very noticeable in the finished dress.

Sew the side seams.

Cut a stencil from a piece of paper, just about 12 cm above the edge of the pocket to the right, which is getting wider. There is no right or wrong patterns. Do the butterflies on the paper in random order.

Place the paper on the dress (shiny side down). To iron without steam. After about a minute, it should stick to clothing.

Before you begin painting, insert a thick paper inside the dress so that the ink didn't get on the back of the dress. Now to paint the butterflies with a wide brush.

Let the dress dry for about an hour. Gently peel off the paper after the paint is dry to the touch.

Cut out the pocket.

Sew along the sides. Make cutouts to better shape the pocket.

Happened. Sew a seam along the top edge. Pull the thread to gather.

Cut a 7.5 cm wide strip of pocket fabric. Make sure that the length is equal to the length of the pocket top + 2,5 cm Folded her 1.25 cm on both ends. Now fold the strip in half across the width.

Place the pocket in the bottom of a cloud of butterflies. Sew it in there on all sides except the top.

Finish the armholes and shoulder straps:

Fold the strip in half and align its raw edges with the raw edges of the armholes (on the wrong side of the garment), leave 5 cm of the tape on one side and sew along the raw edges.

Once you have reached the other end of the armhole, leave another 5cm and sew ends together.

Connect the seam of the neckline and armhole together.

Repeat for the other armhole.

Sew a cute button on the pocket. And voila! Pocket full of butterflies!
