Fun dress and scrunchie

I wanted to send something handmade for my little niece who lives across the pond from me. Most interesting is that she and my daughter are almost the same size so I can do something scrupulous for cousins. I wanted to do something nice, but also modern. I finally decided on this dress and I think it meets all the requirements. I call it the "happy dress" because of the colour stripes really can cheer. It is made of thick and soft knit sweater, so dress child will feel good in the cooler months.

Here's a matching dress bow I made:

It's simple and modern.... and I love it... maybe even more than the dress itself.

There's a girl next to you, which will suit this dress? So let's see how to make a fun dress and bow to him.

Materials:

For the dress:

Knitted sweater
Dark siniaia denim - few pieces (say, 25 X 50 cm, I don't really measure)
A piece of fabric for ruffles - 10-12 cm wide
Two clips, or buttons to close the back.

To make the bow:

Elastic tape (two times wider than regular elastic)
The material in colors matching with the dress
The locking button or button for the center.

Measurements:

1. Measure the child from the breast to the point where you want the hem of the dress. Keep in mind that we are going to have a fashionable and sleek look, so just above the knee would be better. Add 1.5 cm to measure. Let's call it DP.
2. Measure the child around the widest part of the body. If the kid has a belly, measure it around the belly. Add 5 cm. let's Call the measure O

Cut knit sweater in a rectangle with length DL and width O Fold it in half across the width, right sides together and sew along the length. If you choose a striped fabric like mine, make sure the stripes match at the seam. It is not necessary because the seam will be on the back. And a properly fitted band will look more harmonious. Finish seam with serger or zigzag stitch.

Prepare the straps:

Cut two 12 x 25 cm rectangle of denim. Fold each in half (right sides together) across the width to obtain rectangle 6 x 25. Stitch the raw edges of 25 cm side, to make a long tube. Make it so that the seam was in the center. This is the inner part of the straps.

Preparation Ruche:

Cut a rectangle the length and width of 10 cm

Connecting with the Ruche straps:

Lay the dress so that the seam was in the center of the back. Now fasten the straps 7 cm from each other in the front.

Sew along the width, making sure that the seam caught all the layers. Make the top stitch as close to the edge as you can. Now sew the other edge parallel to the top at a distance of 1-1,5 see, Leave a 5 cm hole. Now using a safety pin insert the elastic into the opening between the ruching and dress. Connect the ends of an elastic band. Sew the hole.

Now, let's make a wide ribbon at the hem. Just cut a denim strip of 10-12 cm in width.

Here is how I did connection tape:

Fold the strip in half along the entire width.

Now sew the ribbon along the hem.

Leave a small piece unsewn at the beginning. This will be used to connect later.

Now fold the tape to the other side.

Now add something like the locks on the straps and back of the bodice. Buttons, clasps, Velcro... whatever suits you. If you want, you can also add more than one clasp on the strap to make it adjustable.

Personalize the dress:

Draw a letter on the inner side of denim, with your favorite font. I used the pencil to do it.

Cut.

I used textile glue to keep the letter in the required position, but you can manually tack or use pins (I'm fobicakie to the needles, especially children's clothes).

Once the application secured, to exhibit their car at a minimum speed and a very small stitch. Sew very carefully along the border. I used different color thread to show you the seam and you could see where my sewing machine is gone. That is why I recommend stitching matching color thread, so nebylo so clearly visible seam.

Fun dress ready. Put it on Your toddler and it will make him and you happy!

Fun bandeau:

In the photo it can be clearly seen. Cut 3 circles of different sizes from felt. You could use household items, mugs, plates, coins, etc., to get circles of different sizes. Now cut a 25 cm long piece of ribbon and connect the ends, overlapping them slightly and stitch together. Now put a large piece of felt, then place the rubber band and then place the second largest circle, small circle, and button, respectively. Thread the needle 2-ply yarn in the colour of the buttons. Now sew a button, going through the holes several times.Just make sure that whenever you insert the needle into the hole, you go through all layers of felt. Fun tie ready.
