Skirt Tulip is increasingly used today in dresses, especially for women. This is a simple way to add some interest to the pattern with a simple bodice. It also gives more coverage, giving ease of movement, dress sometimes lacks. I decided that I would share MK how to sew a dress with a Tulip hemline in this lesson.
Level: Beginner
Time: 15-30 minutes
Materials:
For children 5 - 10 years 1 m of fabric will be enough for a start.
Wavy ribbon 1.5 m
Sewing fields:
Hem: 1/4 inch
Top edge: 3/8 inch
Tailoring:
Fold the fabric in half. Short ends align.
Cut an arc on both layers. For my skirt I cut out an arc 8 inches x 6 inches.
Turn the fabric inside 1/4 inch or as little as you can. Use as narrow of bending ensures that You will not get waves or Assembly around the curved part.
Start to sew the wave on the right side, and you will have a finished hem. Try to keep the needle in the center of a wavy ribbon. In the picture above, we left the tape unfinished, because this end will be sewn to the bodice anyway.
Now fold the tape inside so that half of it is peeking out. Now sew a seam as close to edge as possible on the right side. This will keep the ribbon tightly from the inside.
Now sew along the edge of the long stitches. Pull the thread gently gathered skirt to match the size of the bodice.
And all this, to sew a dress with a Tulip skirt, simple!
