The inspiration for this dress came to me during a recent party I attended. I couldn't help but notice that a large number of women wear something like a poncho, dresses tunic. When I got home I looked it up. Looked through various shops selling clothes. And I was surprised by the number of variations of this dress. They are called differently: Kaftan, poncho, kimono sleeves, but the basic idea is the same. They are so easy to make and they are trendy. So why not make one dress for yourself. So, without further ADO, I give you a lesson on how to sew dresses, tunic.
Materials:
1. Fabric: for this project you will need fabric that is 1.5 m wide instead of the usual 0,85 m.
2. Collar: suitable or excellent from the fabric. Depending on the fabric, you can use satin/silk ribbon instead of the usual cotton. - 0.9 m
3. Finish - matching fabric - or you could also use a different color tape - 9 metres
4. Safety pins - 10.
Now let's put the material on the cutting Board:
Spread the material evenly on a flat surface. Now fold it diagonally so as to obtain a maximally large area. Cut where it ends with a triangle (shown in figure). We essentially make such a big square of this fabric as possible.
Now fold this triangle in half again to make a triangle of a smaller size.
Now get the highest point on the back where the neck you like.
Now cut on the fold. Make a small marking where the shoulders near the neck.
Here's how it will look when you expand the material. Look at the small marks on his shoulders. Now fold the fabric along the length and make sure that the marks are in the middle. Now measure a front neck depth with which you feel comfortable. You can completely cut out any other shape of the neck, but I think that V-neck looks better in this style and it's also easier to finish.
Sew easy tip 1: When determining the depth of the neck, be careful. If you're not comfortable with plunging necklines, take the depth a little less than I would like. This is because its loose fit and shoulder are not defined, so the neck can shift a bit while you're wearing it, causing the cut would be deeper.
Now carefully put it over your head and stand in front of the mirror. Don't worry if it looks gigantic at the moment. Will work on this next. Now just need to find the right point where you want your armhole and pin it to both layers. Also get a point closer to the chest line and mark it with a pin too. You don't want the fabric away from the body too close. Do the same on the other side. You might need a friend to help You with this step, because the fabric is slippery. It can be hard to find the right point, preserving the symmetry.
Now gently wisconsonite of fabric and spread it on a flat surface.
See the arrow? That is where we have our safety pins. As you can see, they are asymmetrical, that's fine. Now we will fix it. Start with the side which is farther from the neck. In this case, the left side. First mark all four points with a non-permanent marker and remove the pins. Now even out the fabric, make sure that the shoulder markings we made on the bend, the fabric lays symmetrically and then apply the signs again on both layers.
Now add more pins towards the bottom that follows your figure.
Now fold the fabric lengthwise. Make sure the fabric is symmetrical.
